22.10.2010Tishman international hosts us embassy from Bulgaria in Southern California, USA Alan D. Levy, Chairman of Tishman International Companies, a leading international commercial real estate developer, announced that the firm proudly hosted a distinguished group of Bulgarian real estate and construction executives, organized and accompanied by Emily Taneva, the commercial attach? from the US Embassy from Sofia, Bulgaria, on Friday February 5, 2010, on a prestigious tour of landmark projects in Southern California, USA.
The group was escorted from their hotel via luxury transportation accommodations provided by Tishman, to the prestigious Regency Club in Westwood, the home of Univeristy of California Los Angeles, where Tishman graciously hosted a spectacular lunch complete with fine wine and delectable treats. Arlene Pepp, Vice President of Tishman, lead the luncheon discussion on behalf of Mr. Levy, who quite coincidentally was in Bulgaria at the time working on his firm's most current development, Tishman International's Sofia Airport Center (SAC). Ms. Pepp is in charge of overseeing the leasing for SAC, the largest commercial real estate project of its type under construction in Bulgaria. Tishman's SAC is the first development project to receive the prestigious LEED certification in commercial development in Sofia. The only other LEED Certified building in Bulgaria is the U.S. Embassy in Sofia.
Following the luncheon, the VIP's were given a presentation by a senior executive from Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), one of Tishman International's global leasing consultants and exclusive leasing agent for SAC in Bulgaria. The local presenter was Carl Muhlstein, executive vice president of brokerage services for C&W-California. Mr. Muhlstein provided a global outlook of the United States national commercial real estate market and a detailed outlook for the Southern California market.
The next exciting event on the agenda was a grand behind-the-scenes tour of the exciting LA Live! project in Downtown Los Angeles, designed by Gensler. The delegation was wowed by the glamorous d?cor, high-end restaurants and the ever eye-catching interactive technology and signage.
The day was especially successful in large part due to the translation skills of Emily Taneva of the US Embassy in Bulgaria. "The tour of Southern California provided by Tishman was excellent. The presentation by Mr. Cohen was fascinating, the lunch at the Regency Club and the lecture on LA/California real estate market - outstanding. The day was unforgettable as were the people we met - delightful and charming. I am quite positive that all Bulgarians will have the most pleasant memories regarding our Los Angeles visit", commented Ms. Taneva.
Earlier in the day, the executives enjoyed an engaging presentation given by Gensler's Regional Managing Principal Andy Cohen, on the firm's world class designs and projects such as the distinct new Marriott and Ritz Carlton towers located in downtown Los Angeles' newest project, LA Live! Gensler is a globally-renowned architecture, design, planning and consulting firm and designed the Arco Towers project in the Sofia CBD. Tishman and Gensler have a long standing relationship and have worked on many projects together.
Prior to coming to California, the Embassy had attended the World of Concrete convention in Las Vegas for the second consecutive year. Last year, a member of this group attended the same convention and purchased American-made concrete finishing equipment and had it shipped to Bulgaria for his contractor business. Quite coincidentally and unbeknownst to Tishman at the time, that exact firm became the winning bidder to provide the concrete finishing for Tishman's Sofia Airport Center in Bulgaria. "This is a perfect example of Bulgarian business and labor savvy, combining with American technology, resulting in a high quality project and joining two worlds", said Mr. Levy.
